We plan, place, and deliver conferences, meetings, and events across Canada. Headquartered in Fredericton, New Brunswick, with reach and relationships that span coast to coast.

Our Story

Elm City Events was founded in 2021 by Julia McDevitt, CMP, after more than a decade leading Conference Services at the University of New Brunswick. What started as a solo practice built on professional relationships has grown into a team-driven operation serving corporate, government, association, not-for-profit, and academic clients from coast to coast.

Today, the company operates across five service lines: conference and event management, site selection, destination management and curated experiences. Our site selection work spans every province in Canada. Our destination management capability is the only one based in New Brunswick. And our client roster includes federal departments, provincial governments, national associations, and major institutions.

We grow through relationships, not sales pitches. Many of our clients are partnerships built over years, and the trust in those relationships is more valuable than any single contract. We demonstrate expertise, share genuine value, and let the relationship develop naturally. That's how this company was built, and it's how we plan to keep building it.

Julia McDevitt, CMP

Owner & Principal Planner

Fredericton, NB

Julia started Elm City Events in 2021 after serving as Senior Director of Conference Services at the University of New Brunswick. She holds a BBA from St. Francis Xavier University, a BEd from UNB, earned her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in 2018, and holds a Graduate Certificate in Management from UNB.

Julia was named Meeting Professional of the Year by MPI Atlantic in 2017, Professional of the Year by Unique Venues in 2019, and received the Excellence and Leadership Award from the Canadian University and College Conference Organizers Association in 2022. In 2026, Elm City Events was named Best Business Event Manager in Atlantic Canada by Atlantic Business Magazine.

Outside of work, Julia is a dedicated mom to two boys, a travel enthusiast, and a firm believer that the best events are built on genuine relationships and a commitment to getting every detail right.

Carolina Correa

Director of Events

Fredericton, NB

Carolina brings a background that spans theater, film production, and operations management. She started her career on film sets in Los Angeles before returning to Brazil to coordinate events and conferences for companies working at the intersection of education, innovation, and technology.

She moved to Fredericton in 2021 and quickly fell in love with the city and Maritime hospitality. Carolina brings an attention to detail and a go-beyond attitude to every project, and she believes that people are always at the center of what makes an event meaningful.

Brianna Donovan

Office Manager

Fredericton, NB

Brianna comes to Elm City Events after ten years at the University of New Brunswick, where she built a diverse career spanning hospitality, and athletics and recreation. She holds a BBA from UNB and a post-graduate certificate in sport and recreation management from the University of Alberta.

Brianna brings a strong aptitude for financial management, an area she has focused on throughout her career, and applies a detail-oriented, organized approach to every project she supports. Outside of work, Brianna enjoys life on her small hobby farm in the country, where she lives with her husband and two daughters.

Natasha Nel

Events Specialist

Fredericton, NB

Natasha is a graduate of Centennial College's Event Planning program with over a decade of experience in hospitality and customer-facing roles. She has a natural ability to build genuine connections and deliver experiences that feel personal and polished.

Originally from Vancouver, Natasha has lived in four provinces and now calls Fredericton home. She brings creativity, warmth, and a deep sense of purpose to her work. When she's not planning events, you'll find her reading in a cafe, biking the trails, or painting.

Kierra MacAlpine

Summer Events & Marketing Specialist

Fredericton, NB

Kierra brings experience in leadership, event coordination, and community engagement through her previous roles with the UNB Student Union, including serving as President and CEO. Throughout her time there, she planned and supported a wide range of events and initiatives, discovering a passion for creating thoughtful and engaging experiences for others.

She enjoys the fast-paced nature of events, the creativity behind the details, and seeing ideas come to life from planning to execution. Kierra is excited to continue learning more about the industry with Elm City Events.
